Welcome to Wings Over Wasatch Hang Gliding, LLC

Our team

Hang gliding instructor Ted flying tandem.

Ted Hurley

Ted is an advanced instructor who has been teaching hang gliding since 2012. Driven by his love for freeflight he has been working full time as a hang gliding instructor or tandem pilot since 2014. He moved to the Salt Lake City area from Lookout Mountain Flight Park in Georgia in 2019 to take over where Pat McGuinness left off with his Wings Over Wasatch Hang Gliding school.

Beyond flying hang gliders and teaching others to fly, Ted is an avid snowboarder, and enjoys paragliding, backpacking, rock climbing, d&d, and mountain biking.

Wolf Gaidis

Wolf has traveled all the way from the beaches of North Carolina to spread his love for free flight here in Utah. His infectious enthusiasm and huge personality make him a great communicator and enable him to share his passion for hang gliding with anyone willing to listen. If you want to get stoked on flying and learn the skills necessary to realize your dreams, Wolf’s your guy. Come see us and give him a howl!

Ian Brubaker

Ian Brubaker has been a pilot since 2006, starting with flying Cessnas, then sailplanes, and now hang gliders. Hang gliding has been his primary form of aviation for over 7 years and has been teaching it since 2015, holding a basic instructor and tandem rating. Ian also holds a B.S. in Space Physics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Ian's passion and expertise is to make flying easy to understand and fun to learn by leveraging both his practical and theoretical background of aviation.

Joe Bedinghaus

Joe started hang gliding in 2012 and has been in the sport professionally since then. Joe has flown all over the world working at several locations in the US, New Zealand, and Switzerland. All told he has flown more than 5,000 tandem flights, even so he loves the sport enough you'll likely find him in the air on his days off or when no passengers can be found.

Becca Tellar

Becca started hang gliding during the Summer of 2012 when her Miami to Montreal XC bike trip was disrupted by tornado warnings in North Carolina's Outer Banks. She has since worked as a glider technician, harness manufacturer, sales rep/reservationist, and was the operations manager at the largest flight park in the country until she moved to Salt Lake City in late 2019.

Patrick McGuinness

Pat is an advanced hang gliding instructor and a foot launch tandem pilot.

Certified by the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association, he moved to Utah' Rocky Mountains seven years ago to take advantage of the best skiing and hang gliding on earth and hasn’t looked back.
